This image started as a photograph that I took of a blue heron while living out of my van on the gulf coast of Texas. I was sitting on the deck of the roof one early foggy morning as I watched this blue heron "dancing" in the surf ~ every time a wave would come he would rhythmically jump over it, lifting one foot then the other and landing back gracefully in the water -- I couldn't figure it out, I don't know if he just didn't want the wave to hit the side of his leg? But he kept doing it, I must have watched him do it for at least 30 minutes ~ so I named the piece "Dancing in the moonlight"
This is a water-colored photograph; I figured out years back that since I was always printing my work on matte photo paper, that if I printed my image in black and white that I could watercolor paint and draw right on top of the image. When painting this one I decided to add in a moon and several constellation looking patterns which helped lead to it being named, "Dancing in the moonlight."
*This is a print of the original.
This art print in on a nice thick matte paper that is museum quality; leaving you with a nice flat finish with beautiful deep velvety blacks. My personal favorite thing about matte paper is that you won't leave your fingerprints all over the image while trying to frame it!
